Smoking Cessation
Inter Professional eLearning
20% of all deaths in the UK are related to smoking. Offering effective smoking cessation services remains a high priority at both a national and a local level. Because of this Sandwell PCT stop smoking service in collaboration with the University of Wolverhampton has joined forces to create a multidisciplinary online learning resource.
This learning resource is aimed at any health care professional that has an actual or potential role in smoking cessation. Even if you are located outside the traditional boundaries of health and social care and work in education or for a local authority this course may be of interest to you. We believe that by encouraging health and non-health professionals to learn together adds to the diversity of this site and creates a beneficial virtual platform for inter-professional learning. The goal is to create a community of practice where individual practitioners with different perspectives and starting points can share ideas and where skills and “know how” can be shared and deployed effectively across professional boundaries.
The course is both practical and experiential. Participants will have the opportunity to experience and practice a range of methods to help them explore the knowledge, attitudes and the skills required to be effective in smoking cessation. This course may contribute to the personal development plans of participants and the portfolios they may wish to build on as evidence of their own professional development.
